Cherapa -the Crow word for Buffalo/ Reverence- is a dream fulfilled for both Tsagoi and I. Cherapa came to us literally as an answer to a prayer, our desire to share our love of nature and creation. Peace and tranquility permeates our eighteen acres and we spend much of our time watching the wildlife, playing in the river, tending gardens, creating in the workshop, walking the trails and a myriad of other activities. Cherapa invites us to live closer to Mother Earth as we were intended to be and we operate this property with the intention of making the smallest carbon footprint possible in the middle of the Big Thicket.

We hope to provide peaceful communion with nature, as well as offer a welcome respite for the traveler who just wants more than another motel room. Cherapa Retreat provides the chance to reconnect with yourself, others and Nature. Our property contains almost all the biospheres represented in the Big Thicket National Preserve, which is recognized as a Globally Important Bird Area . Cherapa offers chances to see all manner of native wildlife year round doing what they do naturally!
